Promises mean a lot
Not to be taken lightly
It’s a seal of wager
Mostly made in the heat of the moment
Consequences of failure not considered
Make a thoughtful promise
Keep to your words.

My goodness how I agree with you.

Our words are so important. We need to consider them before we speak…

Seems rare that people do what they say anymore. 😏

It’s something I really don’t understand. It’s so pathetic way life is now.

This lean towards selfishness, entitlement, and every-man-for-himself mentality is alarming.

It is very alarming. I just wonder what children will learn from the adults.

Nothing good, even from some parents who are involved in their lives. I can’t speak for others of course, but that’s NOT what we are teaching our boys. That’s about all we can do. But we refuse to send three shitheads out into the world.

It’s so bad now that some wish they could crawl into a hole and hide from everything which is really not even the answer.

Nope. What this generation needs is another Martin Luther King, Jr or Bobby Kennedy. Someone espousing the benefits of peace while displaying that hard work and cooperation are necessary.

Well stated. I do not like to make promises, specially to my children. I have had many broken promises and they are not always easy to overcome!

Making promises to kids is no no for me too. It surprises how sharp their memories are. They don’t ever forget the tiniest promise😀😀

The “I like the quote “You are what you do, not what you say you will do”” comment probably fits better here 🙂 Love the post! “Make a thoughtful promise, To keep to your word.” Yes! I hate empty words, let alone ones that are “promising” me something. And the picture! I liked the solidness of it, too – “My word is stronger than Oak” kind of thing. Very nice piece!

Promises are granted only if they can be kept. I was thinking this morning about tomorrow, then I realize I needed to appreciate today because tomorrow is not promised. While it had seen a cliché before, I realized that we can not expect what we are not promised. Those who fail to keep promises did not give from the heart. Their words never took root.
