Tears from my Heart

I falter and cry,
I yearn hard for the light,
I hold my breath for direction,
Behold, seek, and find.
Yet I run far.

Oh, what if I falter and fail,
Beneath the weight of the disguise?
The burden of potential unveiled,
Leaving me paralyzed.

But deep within, a spark resides,
A yearning for the joy concealed.
To embrace the journey that abides,
And uncover the treasures revealed.

The light still calls to me,
Tempting me to set my fear aside.
Eradicating the intimidation
With a new resolve and a hopeful heart,

The joy that awaits me,
The darkness once seemed so cruel,
But now I see it as my guide.
For in the depths of the darkness,
I discover my purpose, my pride.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is a common phenomenon that affects individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their accomplishments and expertise. It makes us doubt our abilities, and this internal struggle can lead to self-doubt, anxiety, and a persistent belief that we don’t deserve our success.

Imposter syndrome, first identified by psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes in the 1970s, describes the persistent feeling of inadequacy despite evidence of accomplishments. It makes us attribute our achievements to luck rather than recognizing our competence and hard work.

In shadows cast by accolades,
A hidden fear, my heart thumps,
A voice within, a haunting verse,
Imposter’s mask, I wear.

The world may cheer and praise my name,
Yet doubts within fuel this dark game,
I stand on a lofty stage,
But deep inside, a trembling cage.

I paint a smile, a guise complete,
But underneath, my heart does beat,
An imposter, they’ll surely find,
A fraud, a sham, a twisted mind.

Causes of Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome can stem from various factors, and understanding its root causes can help address and overcome it effectively:

  1. Perfectionism: Having unrealistic expectations and fearing failure can contribute to imposter syndrome. Accepting that perfection is unattainable and embracing mistakes as learning opportunities is crucial.
  2. Early Experiences: Childhood experiences, such as constant criticism or unrealistic parental expectations, can shape feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt that persist into adulthood.
  3. Stereotypes and Societal Pressure: Societal expectations and stereotypes can lead individuals to question their abilities, especially when breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated or high-achieving fields.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

  1. Recognize and Acknowledge: The first step to overcoming imposter syndrome is recognizing that you are experiencing it. Acknowledge your feelings and remind yourself that it is a common experience for many successful individuals.
  2. Reframe Negative Thoughts: Challenge negative thought patterns by focusing on your achievements, skills, and the hard work that led you to where you are. Replace self-doubt with positive affirmations about your abilities.
  3. Embrace Imperfection: Accept that making mistakes is a natural part of learning and growing. Embrace imperfections as opportunities for personal development.
  4. Internalize Positive Feedback: Accept compliments and positive feedback graciously. Let praise validate your abilities rather than dismissing it as mere politeness.

Imposter syndrome may be a persistent challenge, but it doesn’t have to define your journey. Embrace the knowledge that everyone faces self-doubt at some point, and it is possible to overcome it with self-compassion, positive self-talk, and a supportive network. By recognizing your true worth and embracing your achievements, you can break free from the constraints of imposter syndrome and step confidently into the success you deserve. Remember, you are capable, you are worthy, and you belong. You’ve got this!

And the power of thought,

Unfolding, step by step.

Exhilarating the adventures of my life,
with the beauty of the world,
Waiting to be seen.
With every heartbeat,
Every breath,
Each step forward,
My dreams become my destiny.

Current Hardships in the World

My heart burns.
Beaming light, turning grey.
Into ashes, I wonder if there’s hope.
I yearn for that light,
the beauty once revealed.

In case you haven’t noticed, the world is experiencing some of its toughest challenges and difficulties. From the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to climate change to increasing inequality and social injustice, the world is experiencing hardship on many fronts. That’s not all my friends. There have been other challenges, such as technological Change and Digital Divide, Political and Geopolitical Issues, and the one that bothers me more is increased job insecurity and uncertainty.

In times of hardship
and difficulties abound
Let us encourage one another
and stand strong and proud.

Even in darkness
we can share a light
The world may be clouded
but our hearts can still shine bright.

I’m starting to wonder what the future holds for us. Which one disturbs you more, and guess what? We are survivors, and we have to keep moving. God hasn’t given up on us, so why should we give up on anything we believe in? Quite frankly, sometimes, I wake up with this ugly feeling of uncertainty in my heart. I ask myself if the world is ending gradually, and If that’s the case, it will end with me standing strong.

Let us lift each other up
and lend a helping hand
Reminding one another
that we can stand together as a band

And when the sun rises again
and spring’s sweet flowers bloom
Let us greet the new day
with joy and love anew.
